Privacy notice

Last updated: this notice applies from the date of publication of this website and is reviewed at least annually.

1. Who controls your data

ELITE Compare is a trading style of ELITE Field Marketing Ltd, company number 16619026, registered at Unit 5, Albert Edward House, The Pavilions, Ashton-on-Ribble, Lancashire PR2 2YB. ELITE Field Marketing Ltd is the data controller for all personal data described in this notice and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number ZC235634.

You can contact us about data protection by email at hello@elitecompare.co.uk, by phone on 0121 288 2999, or by post at the address above marked "Data Protection".

2. What we collect

Information you give us. If you send an enquiry or (where enabled) request a call back, we collect your name, postcode, phone number, email address, the category you are interested in, any message you write, and a record of the consent you gave, including the date and time.

Information collected automatically. When you click a comparison link on this site we record the destination reference, a unique click identifier, the time, the page you came from, any campaign parameters in the URL (such as utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign or src), your browser's user agent string, and a one-way hashed version of your IP address. We hash the IP address so we can spot duplicate clicks without retaining an identifiable network address.

Analytics. If you accept analytics cookies, we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, EU-hosted service that does not use tracking cookies and does not build cross-site profiles. Analytics does not run until you accept it.

3. Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • To respond to your enquiry — consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • To refer you to a provider or partner — your explicit consent, given per category and never pre-ticked.
  • To measure and reconcile commission on click-outs — our legitimate interest in operating and being paid for the service, balanced by using hashed IP addresses rather than identifiable ones.
  • To meet legal, accounting and regulatory obligations — legal obligation.
  • To understand how the site is used — consent, via the cookie banner.

4. Sharing across the ELITE Group

ELITE Field Marketing Ltd operates three consumer- and business-facing services: ELITE Field Marketing (B2B field marketing), ELITE Housing Disrepair (tenant disrepair claims) and ELITE Compare (household switching). All three share the same data controller and the same ICO registration.

Data collected through ELITE Compare is used for ELITE Compare purposes. We do not move your details into another ELITE service unless you ask us to — for example, if you tell us you are a tenant with a disrepair problem and ask to be introduced to ELITE Housing Disrepair. Where we operate shared internal systems (CRM, telephony, email, hosting) across the group, access is restricted to staff who need it for the service you contacted.

5. Who else receives your data

  • Providers and comparison services you consent to be referred to. Once referred, they act as their own data controller under their own privacy notice.
  • Affiliate networks that attribute and validate click-outs. They receive a click identifier and campaign reference, not your name, address or contact details.
  • Our processors — hosting, database, email and telephony providers acting on our written instructions.
  • Regulators, insurers and professional advisers where we are legally required or entitled to disclose.

We never sell your personal data.

6. International transfers

Our infrastructure is hosted in the UK and European Economic Area wherever possible. Where a processor transfers data outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and call-back requests: 24 months from your last contact with us.
  • Consent records: 6 years, so we can evidence the basis on which we contacted you.
  • Click-out logs (including hashed IP): 25 months, for commission reconciliation.
  • Cookie preferences: 6 months, then we ask you again.
  • Accounting records: 6 years plus the current financial year.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to erasure, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out. To exercise any right, contact us using the details in section 1. We respond within one month.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, by phone on 0303 123 1113, or by post to Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow SK9 5AF. We would prefer the chance to put things right first.

9. Cookies and consent

We use an opt-in cookie banner. Only strictly necessary storage runs before you choose. Analytics and marketing categories stay off until you accept them, and your choice is stored for six months. Full detail, including each category we use, is in our cookie policy.

10. Automated decision-making

We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

11. Children

This site is intended for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
